A “Sukkah-Truck” is taking to Oporto’s streets this week to help residents celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, or “Festival of Huts”. It is a pick-up truck bearing a wooden, greenery-topped hut known as a Sukkah.
The sukkah is organized by Rabbi Haim and Hannah Chettrit the Chabad Shluchim of Oporto who direct the Jewish student center together with the Jewish community of Oporto. For this reason, the sukkah sits on the back of a truck that is conveniently parked near the university where many Jewish students study.
This year the Sukkah-mobile concept arrived in Portugal. The Oporto Jewish Community also created a SukkahBike. The new options allow anyone, regardless of where they are, to observe the Holiday of Lulav and Etrog and eat in a strictly kosher Sukkah.
The new SukkahTruck and SukkahBike are open to everybody. Everyone is invited to hop on board to shake the Lulav and Etrog or to grab a bite in the Sukkah.

Um segundo Sucá-móvel vai às ruas do Porto para ajudar a comunidade judaica a celebrar Sucot
Um “Camião Sucá” está a sair às ruas do Porto esta semana para ajudar os residentes a celebrar o feriado judaico de Sucot, ou “Festival das Cabanas”. É uma caminhonete que carrega uma cabana de madeira com cobertura verde, conhecida como Sucá.
A sucá é organizada pelo Rabino Haim e Hannah Chettrit, o Chabad Shluchim do Porto, que dirigem o centro estudantil judaico em conjunto com a comunidade judaica do Porto. Por esse motivo, a sucá fica na traseira de um caminhão que está convenientemente estacionado perto da universidade onde muitos estudantes judeus estudam.
Este ano o conceito Sukkah-mobile chegou a Portugal. A Comunidade Judaica do Porto criou também uma SukkahBike. As novas opções permitem que qualquer pessoa, independentemente de onde esteja, observe o feriado de Lulav e Etrog e coma em uma Sucá estritamente kosher.
Os novos SukkahTruck e SukkahBike estão abertos a todos. Todos estão convidados a subir a bordo para agitar o Lulav e o Etrog ou para comer alguma coisa na Sucá.
