Whilst the world retreated to protect from the pandemic, nature was able to enjoy clean air and to regenerate. With less pollution some animals ventured into city centres. Here are some curious moments:
1) Sheep visit a hamburger joint in Wales
It is not unusual to see sheep in the city of Ebbw Vale, in southern Wales, but they usually stay clear of shops. With lockdown, however, everything has changed: a small herd of wild sheep was seen outside McDonald’s.

2) Wild boar roam a city in Israel
During the quarantine period the residents of Haifa in Israel were surprised to see wild boar roaming the city. At first, they only ventured out at night, but soon they were seen during the day. A group of residents began keeping watch to drive the animals back to the woods.

3) Dolphins cavort in the Bosphorus Strait
The Bosphorus Strait in Turkey is a busy shipping route between Europe and Asia, as well as an active fishing port. However, during lockdown, its waters stilled to the point that dolphins were drawn to the area.

4) Flamingos mate in Albania
About three thousand flamingos coloured the lagoons of western Albania pink during the pandemic. The birds took advantage of the peace in the generally busy region, home to an olive oil producer and a leather processing plant, to mate.

5) Puma roams the capital of Chile
A puma roamed Santiago de Chile for many hours until a group of policemen managed to capture it in an apartment complex. It is believed that the animal came down from the mountains that surround the city to look for food and drawn by the silence and the quiet streets it entered the city.
6) Ducks, shoals of fish and seaweed sighted in Venice
Italy was without a doubt greatly affected by the pandemic. It, too, felt the effects of its empty streets. In Venice, one of the country’s most touristic cities, the fall in the use of boats and water taxis caused the generally muddy waters to become almost crystal clear, and led to sightings of duck, shoals of fish and algae, which are generally absent.

Animais aparecem em locais inusitados durante período de isolamento social
Enquanto o mundo se recolhia para se proteger da pandemia, a natureza teve a possibilidade de respirar ar puro e de se regenerar. Com a redução da poluição, alguns animais se aproximaram de centros urbanos. Veja alguns acontecimentos curiosos:
1) Ovelhas visitam hamburgueria no País de Gales
Não é incomum ver ovelhas circulando pela cidade de Ebbw Vale, no sul do País de Gales, mas elas não costumam se aproximar de pontos comerciais. Com o lockdown, porém, o cenário mudou: um pequeno grupo de ovelhas selvagens foi visto na área externa do McDonald’s.
2) Javalis circulam em cidade de Israel
Durante o período de quarentena, os habitantes de Haifa, em Israel, ficaram surpresos com a presença de javalis selvagens circulando pela cidade. No início, a visita era somente à noite, mas logo começou a acontecer também durante o dia. Um grupo de moradores passou a fazer plantão para reconduzir os animais para a floresta de onde saíram.
3) Golfinhos brincam no Estreito de Bósforo
O Estreito de Bósforo, na Turquia, é rota de muitos navios e barcos que transitam entre a Europa e a Ásia, além de também servir como movimentado ponto de pesca. Porém, durante o período de isolamento social, suas águas ficaram tão tranquilas que atraíram golfinhos.
4) Flamingos acasalam na Albânia
Cerca de três mil flamingos deixaram as lagoas do oeste da Albânia cor de rosa durante a pandemia. Os animais aproveitaram a tranquilidade da região, geralmente agitada por fábricas de azeite e de couro, para acasalar.
5) Puma circula pela capital do Chile
Um puma percorreu Santiago do Chile por longas horas, até que um grupo de policiais conseguiu resgatá-lo em uma casa. Acredita-se que o animal saiu das montanhas que rodeiam a cidade em busca de comida e, devido ao silêncio e pouco movimento nas ruas, acabou entrando na área urbana.
6) Patos, cardumes e algas podem ser vistos em Veneza
Sem dúvidas, a Itália foi muito afetada pela pandemia. Na mesma medida, pode sentir os efeitos de ter suas ruas vazias. Em Veneza, uma das cidades mais turísticas do país, a redução do uso de barcos e táxis aquáticos fez com que as águas geralmente turvas ficassem quase cristalinas, permitindo que se avistasse patos, cardumes e algas, geralmente ausentes.
